DynamicAngling Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which DynamicAngling ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, maintains, protects, and discloses information collected from users ("you" or "Anglers") of the DynamicAngling mobile application available on Android and iOS platforms.
DynamicAngling is committed to protecting your personal data in full compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the Google Play User Data Policy.
Account and Data Deletion (User Data Rights)
You have full control over your personal data and the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time:
- In-App Deletion Path: Open the DynamicAngling app → go to Settings → scroll to the bottom → tap Delete Account → confirm deletion. Your account and personal data are deleted immediately.
- Online / Web Deletion Request: If you cannot access the mobile application, you can submit an account and data deletion request by emailing our Information Officer at IODynamicAngling@gmail.com or support@dynamicangling.co.za with the subject "Delete My Account" and your registered email address. Requests are validated and fulfilled within 7 business days.
- Scope of Deletion: Upon account deletion, we permanently erase your user profile, username, email address, password hash, uploaded catch records and photos, personal best entries, comments, likes, and device notification tokens from our live databases.
- Data Retention: In compliance with statutory legal and financial requirements (such as South African SARS tax compliance), anonymous transactional and billing invoices may be retained for up to 5 years solely for regulatory audits.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Identity and Contact Data: Name, username, email address, and profile picture provided during account creation or profile editing.
- Catch and Angling Records: Species, weight, length, bait, attractants, tackle setups, and photos you voluntarily log in the app.
- User Communications: Feedback, ratings, and customer support queries sent to our support desk.
1.2 Location Information & Fishing Spot Privacy
- Precise Location Data (GPS): With your permission, DynamicAngling accesses your device's GPS coordinates while logging a catch or using the live dam map to identify water bodies, recommend species, and compute fishing conditions.
- Spot Privacy Controls: You have full control over the visibility of your fishing spots. When logging a catch, you can toggle Spot Protected or Secret Spot, which obscures or hides precise GPS coordinates from other community members and public feeds.
1.3 Camera and Photo Library Access
- Device Media: With your permission, the app accesses your camera and photo library solely to allow you to photograph or attach images of your catches, gear, and profile picture. We do not access or scan your private photo gallery.
1.4 Information Collected Automatically
- Device and Usage Identifiers: Operating system version, device model, app version, IP address, and anonymous usage analytics to maintain reliability and prevent fraud.
- Crash & Performance Telemetry: Anonymized performance indicators and crash reports to identify and fix technical issues.
2. How We Use Your Information
We process your personal information on lawful bases (contract fulfillment, legitimate interests, and user consent) to:
- Create and authenticate your user account.
- Provide interactive map features, dam identification, and species recognition.
- Process optional Pro subscription upgrades via Google Play Billing or Apple In-App Purchase.
- Send essential transactional notifications (password resets, email verification).
- Maintain app security, prevent bot abuse, and enforce community safety guidelines.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We disclose information only to vetted service providers necessary for operating the platform:
- Cloud Infrastructure: Hosted on secured cloud servers equipped with automated firewall protection and database encryption.
- In-App Subscriptions: RevenueCat and Google Play Billing / Apple App Store for processing subscription purchases securely without storing your payment card details.
- Push Notifications: Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google LLC) for timely catch notifications and activity alerts.
4. Data Security & Storage
We implement rigorous technical and organizational safeguards:
- All network communications between the mobile application and our servers are encrypted using modern Transport Layer Security (HTTPS / TLS 1.3).
- Passwords and sensitive authentication tokens are cryptographically salted and hashed.
- Access to production databases is restricted to authorized personnel using multi-factor authentication.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Under POPIA and global privacy standards, you have the right to:
- Access & Portability: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Rectification: Update or correct your profile data directly in the app.
- Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): Permanently delete your account and personal data as described in the Account Deletion section above.
- Revoke Permissions: Disable Location, Camera, or Notification permissions anytime in your device's System Settings.
6. Protection of Children
DynamicAngling is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information without parental consent, please contact us immediately.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements to our app or changes in legal regulations. We will notify you of any material changes via an in-app notice or by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
